Does your resume reflect the value that you bring to the table?
Quite often, many of us get stuck in what I call a resume rut. We put together our resume, only focusing on the small picture, leaving out some of the most important things that we have done to provide value to our employers.
Do you hold back when it comes to investing in yourself and your dreams?
When you stop to think about it, you invest in things everyday. When you purchase a book online, you are investing in your knowledge and the author’s career. By changing the oil in your car, you are investing in your wheels and your ability to get from point A to B. When you purchase a new couch, you are investing in the aesthetics and comfort of your home.
So why is it so difficult to invest in yourself?

Over the holidays, I read Alyse Brautigam’s new e-book, Love Yourself: A 10 Step Guide to Becoming the Best Version of Yourself. While I do not follow the exact same diet principals as Alyse, I find immense value in her thoughts and ideas regarding the importance of self-love. As I was reading her book, I couldn’t help but think of how self-love applies to career success.

Developing a new career can seem like a full load to take on, especially during the holiday season. Maybe you are working a full time job while developing your new career in the evenings and on weekends. Pile a lot of holiday expectations and events on top of that, and you may soon find yourself stressed out and a bit lost when it comes to what to do next.
As an American, this is the time of year that I tend to reflect on the people and things I am grateful for. There’s just something about expressing gratitude that makes me feel good. It seems to calm any stresses that are going on in my life, helps me focus on the positive things that are happening, and gives me a better outlook. Not only that, but it also motivates me. With that said, it begs the question, why do we only take time out for this once a year? And more importantly, why aren’t we practicing gratitude when it comes to our careers?
